Sweat’s Furniture Donates $50,000 to Southeast Georgia Health System Through Georgia HEART Program

Sweat’s Furniture recently contributed $50,000 to the Southeast Georgia Health System Camden Campus through the Georgia HEART Hospital Program, underscoring the company’s commitment to strengthening access to high-quality health care in the region.

The Georgia HEART program—also known as the Georgia Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program—allows Georgia businesses and individuals to redirect a portion of their state income tax liability to eligible rural and critical access hospitals. This innovative model keeps tax dollars working at home, fueling essential medical services and community growth.

At the Southeast Georgia Health System Camden Campus, contributions made through Georgia HEART have already helped fund several vital initiatives, including the Wound Care Center, ROSA Knee robotic surgical technology, and 3D mammography.

Looking ahead, redirected 2025 tax dollars will support the expansion of both inpatient and outpatient cardiology services to meet the region’s growing needs. It’s a chance to make a direct impact on heart health—with your own heart in the right place.

The inspiration for Sweat’s Furniture’s participation began when Bryan Thompson, interim director, Foundation, Southeast Georgia Health System, mentioned the Georgia HEART program to Dwight Sweat, owner of Sweat’s Furniture.

“Being a native of the community, I’ve seen our growth over the years,” says Sweat. “It’s important to reinvest in the community and in our Health System. Strong local health care is vital for a growing community.”

Sweat shared that his family has benefited from local health care they can rely on. “Both of our children were born here, and I have two strong new knees,” he says. “We are fortunate to have care close to home when we need it.”

Sweat encouraged other business owners to consider participating in Georgia HEART. “I would definitely encourage business owners to participate in this unique program allowing us to allocate our state income tax dollars to the benefit of the community,” he said. “The question is really: why wouldn’t you participate in Georgia HEART?”

Christy Jordan, president and CEO of Southeast Georgia Health System, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the gift. “Community partners like Sweat’s Furniture make an extraordinary difference in the health and wellbeing of our region,” says Jordan. “Their generous contribution through Georgia HEART directly strengthens patient care, expands lifesaving services, and ensures that families in Camden County have access to advanced medical technology. We are deeply grateful for their support and commitment.”

Participating in the program is simple, takes only a few minutes, and earn a 100% tax credit. To apply or learn more, visit sghs.org/ga-heart or georgiaheart.org.
