PRINCETON, WV (WOAY)- WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital has officially partnered with WVU Heart and Vascular Institute to expand care in southern West Virginia.
This will bring one of the top 10 cardiac surgery programs in the US right to the heart of Princeton. Their goal is to continue to bring services and care here locally for patients…
With this expansion of PCH, they also welcome a new provider who’s a board-certified cardiologist, who has expertise in both general cardiology and electrophysiology.
With his arrival on May 19th, he’ll offer a broad range of services that will expand their offerings. The department chair of the Heart & Vascular Institute explains more about what they’ll offer now at PCH.
“So obviously with heart, we offer general cardiology services. So, whether that’s for chest pain, palpitations, high blood pressure, those sorts of things,” said George Sokos, the department chair of the Heart and Vascular Institute. “Now we’re going to offer pacemakers, defibrillators, eventually, maybe do some ablations. Probably late summer, we’re adding telemedicine for cardiac heart failure. We want to really increase those services in a way that’s safe and really kind of expand things in the right timeframe. All right. So we definitely will do that.”
While they’re excited to expand their services and bring world-renowned care to Princeton and surrounding areas. The president of PCH says they’re committed to prevention and community education on your health. She says they think about people before they arrive, when they’re here, and when they leave, having this partnership helps with that.
“It should make people feel very secure. You know, the quality of care that the quality of care that you’re receiving in Princeton, West Virginia, is based on what we do at Ruby in the Heart Vascular Institute there,” said Karen Bowling, President and CEO of WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital. “And, you know, we have physicians at Ruby that travel all over the world to provide procedures and to do things because we are so well-renowned in what we do. That level of service here in Princeton and southern West Virginia and serving, of course, southwest Virginia as well. Why? That’s just awesome and something to be very proud of and I know is a leader in this organization. I’m very proud.”
